Sunday 24th July saw 15 competitors playing the Scottish Sea Farms Senior Ladies Open in the Hope.
Early morning thick mist gave way to heavy downpours later, but thankfully the weather behaved during the majority of the competition, even becoming very warm at times.
A shotgun start had everyone back to the clubhouse at approximately the same time for home bakes while the scores were processed, and Kirstie Brown from Scottish Sea Farms presented the prizes as follows.
The Gross prize went to Lynn Shearer with an 87, maintaining her good form. Lynn also went home with a couple of Specials; Nearest the Pin in Two on the 9th and Longest Drive on the 17th, both in the 0-20 handicap category.
Violet Ward continued her winning streak coming First Nett overall with 72; second was Sheila Hourston on 75 and third Ann Oag with 77.
First Nett (Local Player) was Kate George on 73.
The other two Specials were won by Liz Pirie (Nearest the Pin in Three on the 9th) and Sandra Shearer (Longest Drive on the 17th) both in the 21+ handicap category.
Thanks to Scottish Sea Farms’ generosity there were plenty of prizes on offer today but perhaps the best of all was Eileen Spence’s news of the arrival of a long-awaited grandchild, our congratulations to all the family.
Special thanks go to Derek Ward who got soaked cutting the greens in the morning and, of course, to Scottish Sea Farms for their support which made our final open of 2022 one to remember.
