Pipe Dream Plumbing Junior Open 2023

June 10^th the Pipedream jnr open was played over 6 and 9 holes.

There was some very competitive scores, both in the gross and nett section. Condition were, very breezy and sunny and with the course in excellent condition. The holes were set up for, into and with the wind, giving the competitors something to think about.

The winner of the Pipedream gross trophy was Kellan McAlister with an excellent Gross 35

Second in the gross section with a Gross 36 was Dagan Edwardson

The winner of the Pipedream Nett trophy with an excellent nett 12 was Findlay Waters .

Equal second with a nett 18 were Callum Paterson and Einer Thomson .

Winner of the 6 hole competition was Adam Shearer .

Thanks go to the sponsors Pipedream plumbing and Eric Kemp for presenting the winner with their prizes and refreshments.

Thanks to all who helped organise the event and also the parents for bringing all the kids for the event. Thanks to the greenkeeping staff for all their hard work.

Juniors final fling 2019

Monday the 16th Sept was the final night for the juniors this year. The weather was wintry and the course wet but this did not deter 7 hardy kids. They went out and played 6 holes as a final fling shoot out. The winner with a great score of 29 was Dagan Edwardson. Well done Dagan and well done to all who took part and also those who didn’t make it but have attended this summers coaching. After the event the competitors were treated to some goodies and were given medals for their efforts on the course.

Over all champ for 2019 Dagan Edwardson(with trophy) surrounded by fellow competitors – from the left Oliver Wilson, Einar Thomson, Alex Thomson, Carrie Peace, Jack Tait and at the front Logan Edwardson.

Roving Pro

Wednesday 31st say Gary Listers last visit to coach the juniors through Club Golfs Roving Pro scheme. 8 juniors attended on this last day which, although overcast, was dry and pleasant. This professional level coaching really helps the juniors and also allows club coaches to get tips from Gary for our own coaching evenings.

SRGC would like to thank Gary for the coaching and hope to see him again next year.

Pipe Dream Plumbing Junior Open 2019

The SRGC held its Pipedream Junior Open on Saturday 15 th June with a total of 14 children playing the 6 and 9 hole challenge. This is the second year of the event and we were delighted to see numbers had increased from the previous year.
Three boys competed the 9 hole competition. The afternoon started with a great shot from last years winner Glen Rosie, who to the amazement of fellow players and coach, managed a hole in one at the first hole.
Ten boys and one girl, playing in small groups, competed in the 6 hole challenge. They were well supported by all the coaches and we were delighted to have Mums and Dads there too helping keep scores.
Refreshment were served to everyone at the end of the competition before Andy Gunn/ Pipedream presented the prizes.

Saturday and Sunday saw our 2nd visit of 2019 from PGA coach Gary Lister. Despite the inclement weather this hardy band of juniors and helpers turned out and enjoyed there training.

Sunday 21st April saw the first visit of 2019 from PGA professional Gary Lister.

Juniors Final Fling

The juniors final night was held on Monday 3rd September with 13 juniors attending.

With 7 children in contention for the summer ringer trophy all was to play for. The six hole course they have been playing this season was proving fun with a high degree of difficulty, the greens were quick with many players taking several putts making scoring very close.

It could not have been closer as two players Fraser Cooper and Felix Rushton-Myers came in with the same scores meaning they share the Austin Hourston Trophy.

Well done to both players.

In the longest drive Alex Thomson almost drove to the first ditch, which was declared the winning drive.

The younger players held a mini competition of putting, chipping and the longest drive. This years winner was Dagan Edwardson, who won in all three of the mini competitions winning the medal for 2018.

After the competition the young players tucked into a well deserved snack, followed by the presentation. Well done everyone, see you next year.

First ever Pipe Dream Plumbing junior Open

This afternoon we held our first junior open sponsored by pipe dream plumbing. Glen Rosie won the 9-hole section and Fraser cooper was runner up, Felix Myers won the 6 hole section with Einar Thomson as runner up. In the putting challenge Alex Thomson was the winner.

Thank you to all who came and played and thank you to the volunteers from the club that helped out during the day and to the ladies for the goodies at the end. A special thanks has to go to Andy Gunn of pipe dream plumbing for the trophies and support.

This will now be a permanent fixture so let’s make this bigger next year.
